The global hospitality industry is booming. It is estimated that by 2020, one out of every 10.4 people will work in this sector (World Travel and Tourism Council, 2011), making the search for talent extremely competitive. The EMLYON MSc in International Hospitality Management, a 16-month, full-time master’s program taught in both France and China, was co-developed by EMLYON Business School and Institut Paul Bocuse to help meet the recruitment needs of this thriving industry. Delivered exclusively in English, the program provides students with a solid foundation in general management with a strong focus on innovation, as well as specialist knowledge in new venture creation, lifestyle hospitality management, brand design and innovation management.

This international hospitality management program brings the opportunity to study in Lyon, the capital of French gastronomy, as well as spending time at EMLYON’s Asian campus and Institut Paul Bocuse’s Restaurant School in Shanghai, where the excellence of Asian hospitality is known around the world. You will gain practical experience during a four to nine month internship, as well as benefitting from a full range of targeted careers workshops and events. A focus on project-based learning throughout the course allows you to translate theory into a real-life business setting with the Entrepreneurial Business Project and the Concept Design & Development Project.

Develop management skills and global hospitality knowledge

To prepare students for careers as hospitality leaders, the unique Professional Immersion Module provides a chance to fully absorb the operations and culture of hospitality from day one. Students will have access to the state-of-the-art facilities of both the Institut Paul Bocuse Chateau and the five-star Hotel Royal in the center of Lyon. Sharing your time between EMLYON and Institut Paul Bocuse’s French campuses, you will experience EMLYON’s proven expertise in entrepreneurship with courses such as Innovation Management, Essentials of Marketing and Introduction to Cross-Cultural Management. You will also take specialist hospitality courses led by the Institut Paul Bocuse, including Food and Beverage Management, Hospitality Operations and Revenue Management.

Spend a semester studying in Shanghai

The Asia-Pacific hospitality sector is flourishing. According to research by Boeing, during the next 20 years, nearly half of the world's air traffic growth will be driven by travel to, from or within the Asia-Pacific region. In this region renowned for its devotion to etiquette, students on the EMLYON MSc in International Hospitality Management have the unique opportunity to spend a semester studying in Shanghai at the EMLYON Asian campus and Institut Paul Bocuse’s Restaurant School. You will learn the specifics of the Asian business environment, Asian etiquette and hospitality in modern Asia – gaining skills and experience that will set you apart in the eyes of employers in the global hospitality industry.

Put your knowledge into practice with project-based learning

EMLYON’s unique learning approach, including the popular Entrepreneurial Business Project and the Concept Design and Development Project, provides students with an optimum balance between theory, analysis and creativity. Ongoing seminars and conferences throughout the program introduce you to internationally acclaimed designers, celebrity chefs, industry innovators and leaders of the profession through both institutions’ unparalleled network of friends and contacts.
